TEFL Qualified

Published by admin under Blog

One of my pet hates – seeing “TEFL qualified” on people’s CV’s. To me, that translates into: you have an art history degree and some dodgy online 3 week teaching certificate. People, those kinds of qualifications should land you a job in the fast food industry, not the English Language Department.

If you want to teach a language, you should have studied at least one foreign language at a tertiary institution and reached an upper-intermediate level. Add a CELTA/DELTA and/or postgraduate degree in linguistics or TESOL to that, then put your mop in the corner and apply.

Bush at the UN

Published by admin under Uncategorized

I was just watching a CNN transmission of Bush giving a speech at the United Nations when he mentioned something about terrorists opposing the moral values of all major religions in the world. Surely, that’s rather strong language to refer to investment bankers, hedge fund managers and others who have been feeding off the people ignorant enough to vote George W. into office in the first place.

I switched channels after about the third time he struggled to read his script properly.
